Assessment
1. Adult autism assessment
Dr Lennox begins with a one-hour screening consultation to determine if formal autism assessment is right for you. If autism isn’t initially suspected she can guide you to better avenues of support without proceeding to further assessment. However, if there are indications you may be autistic she will invite you to have a formal assessment on the same day.
The autism assessment involves systematically collecting and analysing information about your experiences from various sources, which may encompass developmental history, clinical interview, and observational assessment. This comprehensive evaluation typically spans several hours, with flexibility for breaks or scheduling across multiple sessions if needed. It's important to note that arriving at a diagnosis is always a clinical judgment of the information gathered and interpreted through extensive clinical experience.
2. Post-diagnostic support
Following the assessment, you'll receive a detailed report outlining a variety of personalised recommendations. If you're diagnosed with autism, Dr Lennox can arrange additional face-to-face sessions to further explore your unique needs or to help your family members. Additionally, she may suggest connecting you with a psychologist who specialises in assisting neurodivergent individuals to help you achieve your goals.
